Session 14. Financial Reasons For Long Term Thinking

NL2120, a Dutch consortium of educational institutes, companies, green civil society organisations and governments, is setting up a joint initiative to accelerate implementation of proper nature-based solutions in urbanized regions. In this session the consortium is exploring financial instruments and incentives that stimulate long term thinking in regional spatial planning. The session aims to end with three take home messages for people who want to use financial instruments for long term plans in their growing green city activities.

In addition to her work at Rabobank, Barbara Baarsma is professor of applied economics, chair of the Bank Council of DNB and she was crown member of the Social Economic Council.

Caroline van Leenders engages herself to the greening of the financial sector at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO). She wrote among others the books 'Finance for one planet' and 'Tien tips voor slimme sturing'.

Nicole Maarsen is interim manager, has been Executive Board Member of Syntrus Achmea Real Estate & Finance and she is co-founder of Home.Earth.

Bernardo Korenberg has been Head of Sustainability & Innovation at Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors since 2012. He provides leadership to Bouwinvest's Sustainability & Innovation opportunities and supports the implementation of the various aspects of the Sustainability & Innovation strategy.

Kirsten Haanraads is head of Public Affairs at WWF Netherlands. Before, Kirsten was senior advisor Public Affairs at Natuurmonumenten. She has also worked as secretary general of NAJK, the Dutch young farmers organization.
